I would
like to welcome everyone back from their Christmas vacation and I hope this new
year is even better than the last one.
Winter
has us in a cold embrace and decisions about indoor versus outdoor recess are
being made on a day to day basis.
Division policy is that we do not go out in temperatures (with windchill) of
colder than -27 degrees Celsius. While we
do utilize the Gimli airport temperature (from the division website) to guide us
in our decision the school yard is quite sheltered from a northerly wind and our
conditions may vary considerably from the posted temperature.
The final decision on indoor versus outdoor recess is made by myself
based on the actual conditions on the playground.
As I go outside for the recess/lunch period personally I make this
decision based on the conditions as they are at that particular time.
Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the Manitoba
winter.
Our PAC
is hosting another “family fun night” on February 10 from 6:00 to 7:30 at the
recreation center. This will include
a family dance and skate. Students
are required to wear helmets while skating and we hope you can come out and
enjoy an evening of family fun.
Parents are expected to attend with their child unless you make other
arrangements with school administration.
Grade 8
Community Consultation
The
school will be hosting a community consultation regarding the possibility of
returning the grade 8 class to WBS on February 10th at 7:00pm in the
school gymnasium. We would like to
invite all interested parties to come out and share their thoughts on this
matter.
