Manitoba Education Citizenship and Youth requires each school in Manitoba to submit a School Plan by the end of October of each year. The school plan should include general goals, with specific outcomes and strategies to achieve the goal. The school plan is reported on to parents and community in the annual report each school releases to the public in the spring.

For the 2009/10 school year our school has the following goals:

1. Students will contribute to
Education for Sustainable Development by becoming responsible decision makers; playing an active role as citizens; and contributing to the social, environmental, economic well being of all;
2. More students will demonstrate knowledge of MOST of the outcomes in numeracy;
3. Student Engagement in Learning will improve

Student Achievement Results at DGJS

Our school has several assesment programs in place. Ongoing formative assessment is used to track general student progress on a longitudal basis, as well as identify the specific learning needs and accomplishments of individual students. In addition, year end assessments are used to provide external accountability.

At DGJS our focus on achievement is in the areas of reading and mathematics. In these areas our school posted the folowing results in the 2008/09 school year:

89% of students read AT or ABOVE grade level

82% of students meet MOST outcomnes in mathematics
